Circle of Life
Acrylic paint on canvas; color pencil and acrylic paint on mixed-media paper
36" × 24"
The image of people happily eating rotten fish stuffed with garbage reveals our contradictions: while we damage nature, we continue to consume it blindly, as if nothing has changed. On the table sits a variety of food — fish, shrimp, soup, oysters, and more — but these dishes are mixed with garbage like straws and plastic gloves, and the people around the table are unfazed, continuing to eat. This work is meant to shock the viewer into the uncomfortable reality of how pollution not only harms the environment but also cycles back to us.
